NEW YORK (AP) — In a story published Jul. 22, 2025, about the importance of government funding to nonprofits, The Chronicle of Philanthropy erroneously reported some details about an Urban Institute study. The study covered funding from all levels of government, not just federal grants. The study said 70% of Bronx nonprofits would be “at risk” without the government dollars. And it said that, if government grants were to disappear entirely, the borough’s typical nonprofit could face a deficit of nearly 30%.
