Langworthy Fights for Energy Choice Act in New York State

Congressman Nick Langworthy discusses his Energy Choice Act, Mayville NY
Mayville, NY — Congressman Nick Langworthy visited PPP Future Development, Inc. this week to promote his Energy Choice Act, legislation he says will protect residents’ access to natural gas and propane.
Speaking outside the company, which works in Marcellus shale, Langworthy argued the Green New Deal is unfair to homeowners and residents by banning the use of natural gas and propane in new buildings.
He said his bill would ensure families and businesses can choose what energy source best fits their needs.
“What my Energy Choice Act will do, is block state and local government from banning specific energy sources like natural gas and propane in new construction," Langworthy said. "The American people should be able to decide what kind of energy they want to use in their homes.”
Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel joined Langworthy at the event, calling the measure important for older residents and those on fixed incomes.
"I could not be behind this anymore," Wendell said. "I have championed this since coming into office and urge everyone to get behind this. So many of our older residents depend on natural gas and propane and won't be able to afford switching over to electric. Not to mention how unreliable electricity can be during our harsh winters. Let’s make sure that we have a choice for our energy and a choice for our homes in New York State.”
Langworthy said he plans to continue pushing the legislation in Washington while working with local leaders to highlight its impact on the lives of residents and businesses in Chautauqua County and beyond.
