Cider Pressing Underway at Godfrey Run
As the seasons change from summer to fall, local businesses are starting to adapt as well.
As Joseph Sweny, the co-owner of Godfrey Run said, "We are excited and ready to get this season rolling."
After taking over the business in the summer, staff at Godfrey Run in Lake City have been busy, selling customers local products, wines, even ice cream. After seeing success in the summer season, the owners have even more plans in the fall including fresh cider.
This is their first year pressing cider and Sweny said they are eager to get going, "We are excited, not nervous at all. We have been taught by some old-timers who know what they are doing. We have done a practice batch."
They have a full space behind the store where they can do all their pressing and preparing of cider before they sell it to customers. But that's not the only things they plan to sell this fall season. According to Sweny, "The things you can find on the shelves are a variety of apples, local meats, cheeses, and other fall goods."
They also plan to use their outdoor space for live music and entertainment on the nights and weekends.
They plan to host a fall event to kick off the season on October 4.
