A busy intersection in Millcreek is set to get a new traffic pattern. Leaders from the Township say the permanent change to Old Glenwood Park Avenue will start September 8, weather permitting. Millcreek leaders say the new traffic pattern is designed to improve safety and mobility. The changes aim to make the commute smoother, but please be cautious as everyone adjusts to the new layout.

Township Supervisors collected data and community feedback as a part of a Traffic Circulation Study, focusing on the intersections along Perry Highway and Old French Road. The study looked at crash reports and traffic flow and found that a traditional signal would lead to longer wait times. Instead officials say a round-a-bout is the best option to keep cars moving safely.

Planning and Development Director, Matthew Waldinger says "The Study actually suggested that this intersection should become a round-a-bout in the future. That's a very costly project over 6 million dollars and would have to be done with Penn Dot's assistance. The Township asked the Consultant to give us some short-term solutions that we could do ourselves that could potentially help safety improvements. Which is to convert Old Glenwood Park Avenue one way west bound."

Waldinger also says, if a round-a-bout is constructed the road will remain a one-way street.
