In a party-line with the Democrats voting "no" and Republicans voting "yes," an ordinance that would appropriate $150,000 to East County EMS for the purchase of an ambulance failed.

East County EMS president Dean Pepicello said the "no" vote did not come as a surprise to him.

Erie County Executive Brenton Davis said he is disappointed with Council's "no" vote and called it irresponsible government.

Erie County Council Chairman Terry Scutella said he and his colleagues were unsure as to why the ordinance was even on the agenda and explained that the money can go out to East County EMS at anytime.
