The Ice Cream Shoppe will be closing its Shannon Rd. location after 20 years, it announced in a Facebook post.

"During those years, our fondest memories can be recalled with employees and customers [who] many have been like family. As with many businesses, we could write a novel about our daily interactions with customers and employees," the post said.

It went on to share the appreciation of former employees, many whom have stayed in touch. 

One of the shoppe's first employees is now a local trauma surgeon, the post said. 

A young employee plans to start "a new ice cream adventure to carry on what we started," the post said.

It will open in eastern Erie County.

The Ice Cream Shoppe will serve donuts and bagels at a pop-up location in the neighborhood. 

Its various shipping and picture framing services will merge and relocate to 1984 Nagle Rd in Harborcreek.

The last day on Shannon Rd. is Sunday.
