Girard Borough Park Nearly Finished

Back in 2021, the Girard Hotel at the corner of Main Street and Rice Avenue in the Borough was demolished.
Now in 2025, a park is being built in that location and is nearly finished.
Mayor of Girard Borough Peter Burton, presented the completion of the park to Erie County Council at their latest meeting as they discussed funding from a grant called Greenways, designed to improve the quality of life in Erie County through the preservation and enhancement of the region's natural, scenic and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment.
Burton said the borough has been waiting on Council for over a year now and even though the project itself cost $250,000, all the borough asked for is $60,000.
Erie County Council is expected to take the ordinance for the funding into further consideration coming up at their next finance meeting on September 18 at 4 p.m.
