The Warriors to Washington trip brought local veterans to some of the nation’s most powerful landmarks this weekend and continues on Sunday.

Erie Vets have seen the the National Archives, the World War II Memorial, and more.

Each stop sparking emotion, reflection, and gratitude for their service.

Organizers said the goal is not only to honor veterans, but to give them a chance to heal and connect with one another. And for the men and women who served, it’s also about knowing the community still stands behind them.

Lisa Smith with Warriors to Washington said, "It's a good thing because most people don't get a chance to see this, and experience Washington DC the way we've been oriented it this weekend. It's giving back to, not only OIS/OEF veterans but to any vets that have helped in any war, or served in any part of being in the military, it's a definite worthwhile experience and a good cause."
