2025 Erie Heart Walk
Cardiac arrests can happen at work, in the home and in neighborhoods everywhere. The readiness of everyone in our community can make the difference in life and death. The American Heart Association is helping to create community members that are ready to act in case of an emergency. The Heart Walk is a way to raise awareness and funds to support the mission of the American Heart Association. 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital dies. In most cases, bystander CPR was not performed. Leaders from the Association are working to changes this.
Gina Klofft is the Senior Director of the American Heart Association she says, "We want one person in every household to know hands only CPR. So we turn a nation of by standers into a nation of life savers. "
The Heart Walk is a way to help their mission thrive.
The 2025 Heart Walk will take place on September 18 at Liberty Park. The event opens at 4:30 pm and the walk starts at 5:30 pm. The event is not about winning a race but raising awareness. The event is hosted by Erie News Now anchor Eva Mastromatteo.
