Warren County School Statement on Threats

Warren, PA — Parents in the Warren County School District were notified late Tuesday night after a threat was reported at Beaty-Warren Middle School on the 16th, prompting a swift police response and heightened security at the school.
According to Superintendent Gary Weber, the City of Warren Police Department received a tip regarding a possible student threat and immediately contacted the district. Officers interviewed the reporting student along with three others who were present, but none confirmed hearing the alleged comment.
The report indicated the suspected student may have made the remark before school while sitting at the breakfast table. When questioned, the student denied making the threat and has since been kept out of school while the investigation continues.
District officials said out of an abundance of caution, the superintendent, the district’s Safety and Security Coordinator, and the Director of Business Services were on-site at the building Tuesday morning, alongside Warren City Police and the district’s School Resource Officer.
“The safety and security of our students and staff is taken with the utmost seriousness,” Weber said. “We want to reassure our community that if we ever believe there is a credible threat, we will not have students in attendance.”
While officers were on-site Tuesday, two additional threats were reported in real time. One involved a student allegedly claiming to have a bomb in their backpack. Another involved a student allegedly making a comment about carrying out a school shooting.
“All students involved were immediately removed from the school, and both cases remain under investigation,” Warren City Police Chief Joseph Sproveri said.
Weber confirmed those students are facing school discipline, and charges are likely. He warned that students must understand any threatening statement, even made as a joke, will be investigated thoroughly in partnership with law enforcement.
The Pennsylvania State Police also issued a statement, emphasizing zero tolerance for threats in schools — noting this comes just days after a separate threat was made at Warren Area High School.
“There is zero tolerance for any threat of violence in our schools,” Sgt. Kyle Callahan, Pennsylvania State Police said. “Every report is taken seriously, and charges will follow if and when they are deemed appropriate.”
Police and district leaders said transparency and cooperation remain critical to ensuring student and staff safety.
