From Serving Strikes to Serving Local First Responders, MLB All Star Paul Skenes to Joins Gary Sinise Foundation & Grainger.
They non-profits presented more than $100,000 in new equipment grants to four local departments in the Pittsburgh region.
Those departments include Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department (Eight FirePRO 300 Thermal Imagers), Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Company (Equipment for Vehicle Extractions), Susquehanna Township Emergency (Water Rescue) and Lower Kiski Ambulance Service (Diving Equipment).
Skenes has a strong connection to the military stemming from his time at the Air Force Academy.
For the second straight season, fans were invited to join Skenes in his mission to raise $100,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Thanks to the fans and brand partners, Skenes surpassed his campaign goal and has set his sights on $150,000 before the end of the season.
In 2024, Skenes hosted Erie WWII Veteran Don Grumblatt before a Pirates game in September.
Grumblatt served on the USS Stanton.
He also served in the Korean War.
