A Fort LeBoeuf School District employee is recovering, following a lightning strike near a local elementary school.

Paramedics were called to Robison Elementary School around 11:30 a.m. Monday, after an employee said she was impacted by a nearby lightning strike.

According to Fort LeBoeuf School District Superintendent Rick Emerick, the employee was evaluated at the school and did not appear to be injured.

However, out of an abundance of caution, she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

According to Emerick, at no point were any students in danger.

"We're fortunate in this case that our kids were safe in this particular circumstance," he said.  "That's a priority for us at all times.  Out of an abundance of caution we had to make sure our employee was evaluated so we did have them transported to, with emergency services to have her evaluated."
