Erie Philharmonic Welcomes New Concertmaster

The Erie Philharmonic has started its new season with a new Concertmaster.
James Thompson will make his first appearance in his new role Sept. 27 and 28.
That is when the philharmonic's new season will kick off with The Music of John Williams at the Warner Theatre.
“With the opportunity to name an artist of the caliber of Jimmy as our new Concertmaster, the Erie Philharmonic is taking an important next step in our quest for musical excellence,” music director Daniel Meyer said. “When our previous Concertmaster, Ken Johnston, stepped down after so many years of admirable leadership, I knew it was important for us to take our time to find just the right violinist to take his place.”
Thompson, who is from Cleveland, has performed across the country.
