It's not every day you come across an albino groundhog! Sherri Woods recently shared a fascinating discovery on Facebook; a video and photo of what appears to be an albino groundhog. She spotted the unique creature along Route 408, just past the American Legion in Cambridge Springs on Saturday.

Albino groundhogs are an incredibly rare sight in the wild. Some sources estimate the odds of encountering one to be about one in 10,000. The striking white appearance of this groundhog is the result of a genetic mutation that causes albinism. This condition prevents the animal from producing pigmentation, giving it white fur and distinctive pink or red eyes.
