Historic House Looks at Home
After the big historic home move in Erie, a move that took longer than expected, we wanted to show you how the home looks at its new address 215 West 6th Street.
Here's a look at the 140 year old Olds-Sweet-Norman house, in between its new neighbors, two other historic homes recently renovated thanks to Erie business leader and preservationist Tom Hagen and his team at Kidder Jefferys Construction, and Kidder Architects.
The house is still jacked up, so it looks taller than it will when it's settled onto a new foundation.
Crews are working on removing the sets of truck wheels that helped to move the heavy house. That should be completed by the end of the week. After that, Kidder Jefferys Construction will build up the new foundation underneath the home, work that should take another three weeks.
Off site, workers are also restoring a front porch, with its own roof that will go back onto the front of the home.
Crews will then pave a new parking lot to the south, to provide parking for all three restored homes.
Gannon University should be able to move forward with plans to use the home for a guest house, starting in May or June of 2026.
