The ANNA Shelter is hoping to re-house two dozen exotic birds, following a police intervention case in Erie County.

Executive Director Ruth Thompson describes this as one of the more odd cases that they've had to deal with.

Those interested in adopting will need to meet certain requirements.

Last week, the shelter helped state police remove 24 exotic birds from a home in Erie County.

A total of 18 parakeets, several cockatoos, and several parrots were brought into the shelter.

According to Thompson, the birds are in good health, but the former owner was no longer able to provide them with the proper care.

The ANNA Shelter is now accepting applications for the birds.

But according to Thompson, they are looking for people who have experience with exotic birds, because they need special care.

The adoption process is being done by appointment only, so you'll need to contact the shelter.
