Recovery Celebration Brings Warren Community Together

Warren, PA – Family Services of Warren County, in collaboration with several local organizations, hosted a community event this week to celebrate recovery and raise awareness about mental health and substance use.
The free event featured food, speakers, art activities and educational resources for individuals in recovery and their families.
“This is both for mental health and substance abuse — so anyone who has experienced or is experiencing recovery,” said Nichole Neukum, executive director of Family Services of Warren County.
Organizers said the event was also aimed at reducing stigma and bringing people together.
“This is just the beginning. There are so many different things that this community provides, and it’s a great way to bring not only the recovery community but the rest of the community all together to break down the stigma,” said Dillon Howard, a recovery support specialist.
Page Rodriguez, a certified family recovery support specialist, added that the event provides a much-needed safe space. “Things in our community, things around our country have gotten very heavy. And having a judgment-free place to go is so important,” she said.
"Events like this are so important," added fellow recovery support specialist Randy Zaner. "When I was in my addiction, I didn't know what was available to me. So, to be able to make sure people have access to help and know where they can go to get the help they need is crucial."
Family Services plans to continue its outreach efforts with more community events, including the grand opening of a new recovery center inside its Market Street location this November.
