Millcreek police arrested a man they caught running from an apparent burglary in progress inside the Aldi Store at 2647 West 12th Street.

Police were dispatched after multiple alarm activations at the grocery store just after 5 p.m. Sunday. The store was closed at the time.

As officers approached the building, the suspect, now identified as Joseph L. Williams of Naperville, Illinois took off running from the store's back door.

Other responding officers set up a perimeter and caught the suspect within a block or two from Aldi's.

They charged Williams with burglary, criminal trespass, possessing instruments of crime and criminal mischief.

Williams was carrying a backpack full of tools when he was apprehended.  Those items may have been used to break in to the store.

The suspect was arraigned before Judge Scott Hammer, and committed to the Erie County Prison with bond set at $25,000.
