Logistics Plus CEO Lauds Employees for Helping Today's Heroes
Jim Berlin is the CEO of Logistics Plus, Inc. He remembers 2001 and the 9/11 terror attacks. He remembers firefighters, police, and first responders charging into burning buildings and collapsing towers. They did it without hesitation.
Berlin says nurses and doctors are today's heroes, risking their lives to help us during this pandemic. In an e-mail, Berlin told his employees that they are not nurses or doctors, but they still play an indispensable role in the war against the virus. The Logistics Plus employees arrange for the transportation of things the heroes need to do their jobs. Things such as masks, sanitizing machines, ventilators, and parts from all over the world. Berlin praised his employees for stepping up to the challenge despite many obstacles.
While encouraging his employees, Berlin also had a message for governments. He says the supply chain cannot be broken. He says canceling flights or shutting down manufacturers might feel good and safe but it could have dire, unintended consequences in relation to the supply chain and whether nurses, doctors, and patients get the things they need.
"It's complicated but it can't just be 'This is the list.’ Because there's things that people produce that you may not know that are critical to our health and our economy,” Berlin said.
Berlin says Logistics Plus will continue to find a way to support the heroes from beyond the front lines.
