Cathedral Prep, Villa Maria Academy Unveil Return to School Plan for 2020-2021 School Year
Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy on Tuesday unveiled their return-to-school plan for the 2020-2021 school year.
In a video released to students, families and faculty, Prep-Villa President Chris Hagerty says the schools are full prepared to handle whatever may happen over the next school year.
The return-to-school plan is broken into three scenarios and is based on Governor Wolf's red, yellow and green phases for counties across the commonwealth.
- Scenario 1: In-Person - All students in the same building at the same time
- Scenario 2: Hybrid Model - Some students in the building, some are not
- Scenario 3: Full Remote - In the event of additional stay at home orders issued during a possible second wave this fall
To prepare for all scenarios, students will receive a brand new iPad this fall. All classrooms have been equipped with a Lenovo ThinkSmart Hub, a 70" TV panel, camera, microphones and speakers. There will be a synchronized experience for every student and teacher, whether physically in the building or not.
If a student is not in the building, they will log in to Microsoft Teams and share an identical experience as those in the classroom.
Teachers will see students at home on the TV in the classroom and students will see and hear everything. According to school officials, the experience will be completely interactive.
An identical class schedule will be followed each day. No matter where in the world a student is joining from, they will have the same experience.
Additionally, Hagerty also announced Tuesday that if students or families are concerned about their physical health in the classrooms, they will have the option to stay home whenever they choose to do so.
