Giant Eagle has removed all gallon-sized-or-greater Giant Eagle brand spring water from store shelves following the train derailment in Ohio.
The spring water comes from its Salineville, Ohio Facility which is located approximately 25 miles southwest of East Palestine.
However, Giant Eagle learned that the water used in the gallon-sized products comes from a protected spring located at a higher elevation than East Palestine.
Additionally, the spring is not near ground water sources directly impacted by the incident.
Giant Eagle said the Salineville facility has been using a third-party lab do conduct regular testing, and has not found any evidence that the water has been negatively impacted by the train derailment on February 3rd.
