Maria Smith has spent over 25 years hunting for treasure at Presque Isle, but she wasn't given a map or an 'X' marking the spot.  Over the years, she has learned many tricks to finding sea glass.

"The best time to look is after a storm. If you're crazy like me, you come out when it's raining and stormy," said Smith.

Smith tells us that everything you find is treasure in its unique way, but there are specific signs to signal if what you discovered is actually beach glass.

"The red was the taillights of cars. They used to be glass. The cobalt blue is lots decorative bottles that people threw away. Apparently, years ago, it was okay to throw your garbage into the water," said Smith. "That's where a lot of the beach glass is coming from."
