Sheffield High School Parents and Students React to Warren County School District Board Decision
The Warren County School District Board on Monday voted unanimously to send Sheffield High School students to Warren Area High School for core classes such as math, science, and English. Some Sheffield parents and students do not believe it is the right move going forward.
Dylan Hardwick, a Sheffield High School student, will be a senior next year and just wants the process stopped. "It broke my heart to realize I am going to Warren for a half a day for who knows how long for my senior year," Hardwick said.
Cap Cook, a Sheffield High School grandparent, said, "we do not really need to get honors classes that they are pushing I just do not see it, we have all the college prep that we are required to really have to get these kids in college," Cook said.
Andrew Kyler will be a junior at Sheffield High School next year and does not know if he will be able to play sports with his friends. "It is a big deal for me to play for my community and stuff like that and with the hybrid decision we can still do that but my friends will not because they will be going to the career center in the morning and then Warren in the afternoon so who knows if they will be able to play here," Kyler said.
Tom Holden, Sheffield High School parent and Coach said, "the best part of our school is the fact that we are all community based and we all pull together, when you have a high school graduating between 30 and 40 kids in a class and they have between 100 and 120 track athletes all those kids are engaged in their school," Holden said.
The Warren County District School Board stands by their decision and believes this option will only help Sheffield High School students.
