Woman Gets 3rd DUI after Nearly Hitting State Police Vehicle on Interstate 79
Pennsylvania State Police gave a woman her third driving under the influence (DUI) offense after she nearly hit a patrol vehicle on Interstate 79 on Thursday, according to a news release.
It happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near the interchange with Interstate 90 around 7:35 p.m.
A driver swerved out of its lane, nearly hitting the patrol car, troopers said. They found the driver - a 33-year-old Erie woman - was impaired by alcohol, according to state police.
Investigators found this was the woman’s third DUI offense within 10 years. It was also the fifth time she was caught driving with a suspended license due to a prior DUI and her second time driving with a suspended license while under the influence.
Charges are currently pending in this case.
