The Community Blood Bank in Erie is offering free eggs to blood donors.

Starting Monday, March 3, anyone who donates blood at the Erie Donor Center will receive a carton of eggs.

All donors will also be entered to win a Blackstone grill throughout the month of March.

With egg prices soaring and blood supplies critically low, Blood Bank representatives said the initiative aims to help families financially while boosting donations.

Every blood donation can save up to three lives, according to the Blood Bank.

Winter months often see fewer donations, but local hospitals urgently need blood for trauma patients, surgeries, and long-term care, Blood Bank officials said.
