As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, the Shapiro Administration has launched a new commemorative license plate celebrating Pennsylvania as the birthplace of American democracy.

The “Let Freedom Ring” design, unveiled by Governor Josh Shapiro, is now available for Pennsylvanians to order through pa.gov/licenseplate.

Nearly 12,000 plates have already been distributed to early registrants.

“Pennsylvania is the birthplace of American freedom — and now, Pennsylvanians can show that pride on the road,” said Shapiro. “We’ve made it easy to order and already thousands have received theirs.”

To kick off the announcement, Shapiro partnered with sports teams from across the Commonwealth, with beloved mascots helping unveil the new plates in a light-hearted promo.

The design is also part of the Shapiro Administration’s broader “The Great American Getaway” tourism and economic development campaign.

The plates are optional and available as standard or personalized.

Specialty and organizational plates will be updated with the new look in the coming months.
