Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Chautauqua County
A domestic disturbance in Chautauqua County turned violent Wednesday afternoon when gunfire erupted outside of a home on North Road in Mina, NY.
“Upon arrival, [officers] encountered an armed subject and gunfire was exchanged,” said Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone.
“Emergency medical services responded to the scene, administered first aid to two subjects - one officer and then the subject who was injured. The subject later succumbed to his injuries and [was] pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
A neighbor who witnessed the incident said she saw more than 50 vehicles swarm the scene.
“You have state, you have local, the sheriff, you have unmarked cars,” said Barbara Hays. “We [saw] two SWAT teams [and] four different ambulances.”
One deputy was injured but is expected to recover and be released from UPMC Hamot.
