Erie VA Medical Center Reports Low Levels of Legionella Present in Water Test
The Erie VA Medical Center has identified low levels of Legionella bacteria in its water supply during a routine test conducted on June 11.
According to officials, the bacteria was isolated to one wing of one floor, and a single sink on an additional floor.
There have been no reported cases of illness among patients or staff, and patient care continues without interruption.
As a precaution, potable water restrictions have been implemented in the affected areas while the facility undergoes sanitization and additional testing.
These precautions will remain in place until all traces of Legionella are eliminated.
