A fatal head-on collision occurred Friday evening on State Route 27, claiming the lives of two drivers and seriously injuring a passenger.

According to Pennsylvania State Police the crash happened at approximately 4:56 p.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane on a curve at a high rate of speed and struck another vehicle head-on. The impact brought both vehicles to a stop in the eastbound lane, where one became fully engulfed in flames.

The drivers, 24-year-old Ryan L. Nelson of Vandergrift and 23-year-old Tyler L. Bean of Titusville, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Bean’s vehicle, 22-year-old Lillian K. Bell of Polk, was airlifted to UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie with suspected serious injuries.

Emergency responders from Youngsville, Wrightsville, Spring Creek, and Garland volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene, along with PENNDOT and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

The crash is under reconstruction by the Pennsylvania State Police C.A.R.S. Unit.

The investigation is ongoing.
