Godfrey Run Farm Market Now Open
A farm stand is open once again and has been busy serving customers in Lake City.
It's one that is supporting local farmers and businesses all through the Erie County area.
Take a drive down West Lake Road in Lake City and people will pass Godfrey Run Farm Market and Cider Mill.
Andrew Sweny, one of the partners said, "We have received good feedback and people thought this place was closing down because it wasn't open earlier in the year like it always was. A lot of excitement, people are excited that we are open ."
Sweny is running the business with his wife, Hannah, and brother, Joe and said the goal is to sell local produce and help neighboring farmers. "We are always going to have produce, locally grown that's in season and we are going to have products based on what's in season here. You can come in and now and come in a month later and all the products can be completely different so we are keeping it fresh and exciting for people", said Sweny.
They carry a variety of produce, food items, ice cream, and drinks made by local vendors, Cellar 54. Right now, only the farm stand is open with lots of local produce, but soon there are plans for more things including live music out back.
Sweny said they want to continue to support local farmers, many of them help them get their business up and running. "Community, that's a real thing, these guys are just trying to help each other out and help each other out and it's really cool to see", said Sweny.
Godfrey Run Farm Stand is open seven days a week, Monday through Wednesday 10-7, Thursday through Saturday 10-8 and Sunday 10-5.
Sweny said they got a lot of help from local farmers including Jack Faulkner, Andy Zeisenheim, Roger Schultz, and Joe and John Mason.
