The County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania has sent a letter to Governor Shapiro and members of the Pennsylvania House and Senate.

It is to "express our frustration and concern regarding the recurring issue of missed budget deadlines," the letter said.

It warns that counties may have to raise property taxes and cut services.

"With the legislature recessed until after Labor Day, counties face growing risks to critical services for seniors and children, while our mutual constituents grow increasingly frustrated by the ongoing delay," it said.

The letter ends by asking politicians to "do your job" and ask them not to adjourn for the Labor Day holiday until a budget is passed.

"The current system is irresponsible and does a disservice to the citizens of Pennsylvania," it said.
