State Senator Dan Laughlin on Possibility of Reclassification of Marijuana
The Trump Administration is looking into the possibility of reclassifying marijuana from a level one to a level three substance.
This change wouldn't legalize marijuana for recreational use, but it would remove some restrictions in place that have been challenging for medical research on marijuana.
A level one drug has no medical benefits, but a level three drug has medical benefits.
State Senator Dan Laughlin has been very vocal about his thoughts on legalizing marijuana and shard what he thought about these possible changes. According to Laughlin, "The president himself is talking about reclassifying marijuana from a class one to a class three drug, which I think is appropriate by the way. It would free up not only the banking industry, but also the research industry as far as medical research goes. I think it's the right thing to do and hopefully we get it done in short order."
This change was first proposed during the Biden Administration in 2024.
