Trump Urges Republicans to Ban Mail-In Voting
WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Donald Trump wants to get rid of mail-in voting. He claims it is highly inaccurate and leads to voter fraud. Election integrity organizations say otherwise.
In a post on Truth Social late Tuesday night, he urged his Republican colleagues to “ban” mail-in voting. In a separate Truth Social post the week before, he claims “MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED” in regards to mail-in voting. He points the finger at the Democrats for eroding election integrity and adds: “Remember, the States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do. With their HORRIBLE Radical Left policies, like Open Borders, Men Playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender and “WOKE” for everyone, and so much more, Democrats are virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM. ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS. I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS. THE MAIL-IN BALLOT HOAX, USING VOTING MACHINES THAT ARE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, MUST END, NOW!!!”
Here is a statement from a White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson:
“Democrats have eroded faith in our elections with reckless laws, such as unfettered mail-in voting, changing laws to benefit their voters, and slow-walking the counting of votes far past Election Day. President Trump wants to secure America’s elections and protect the vote, restoring the integrity of our elections by requiring voter ID, ensuring no illegal ballots are cast, and preventing cheating through lax and incompetent voting laws in states like California and New York.”
The president also wants to get rid of voting machines and instead, rely on using so-called “sophisticated watermark paper”.
The Center for Election Innovation and Research, a nonprofit that works to build confidence in elections, said voting by mail is not only safe and secure, but it’s an integral component of keeping our elections secure and accessible.
According to online data, the COVID-19 pandemic set record highs in nontraditional voting in 2020. President Trump lost that election to Joe Biden and claimed massive voter fraud was one of the reasons for his loss.
Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson's (R-PA) spokesperson, Reena Gamela sent us this statement: "The convenience of voting by mail must be met with assurances that ballots are secure. A recent court decision to overrule an act of the State Legislature when it comes to dating a ballot only makes the situation more ripe for abuse."
Congressman Mike Kelly's (R-PA) office did not give us a comment when we asked the same question.
