While Erie County is not prone to tornadoes, it is no stranger to them, either.
In 1985, Erie experienced one of its deadliest tornadoes - an EF4 that killed 12 and injured 82.
The region typically sees EF0 or EF1 tornadoes.
Between 1950 and 2019, Erie saw a total of 17 tornadoes while Crawford County had 71, according to records.
In the past 5 years, Pennsylvania has seen the number of tornadoes each year increase, according to York Daily. Recently, 2019 saw the highest number of tornados at 37. There were 62 in 1998.
Both Erie and Crawford Counties average one tornado per year.
